Returns, multi-stop and several jobs in one request

When a return is its own job and when it is a stop, why a time to be confirmed beats a guessed time, and how to price several jobs together.

Job or stop?

In 4fleet a job is one pickup to one dropoff with its own date, time, driver, vehicle and price. A stop is a place the car calls at inside a job. The question to ask is whether the car and driver stay with the passengers the whole time.

If the driver waits while the client attends a meeting and then carries on, that is one job with a stop. If the client is dropped at the airport today and collected next week, those are two jobs, because each one needs its own pickup time and may get a different driver. An hourly or day hire where the car stays with the client is one job, even when it ends back where it started; the email parser does not add a separate return for those.

One email, one enquiry with several jobs

When a client asks for an outbound and a return, or a transfer on each of three days, keep it as one enquiry. Pasting such an email into New enquiry creates one enquiry with a job for each part of the request, not several enquiries.

To add a job yourself, open the Itinerary tab and select Add job. The enquiry's own route becomes job 1, so add only the extra jobs, such as the return. Each job then shows its own status line, Details complete or the number of details missing.

A time to be confirmed beats a guessed time

When the client has not said when the return is, leave the time as to be confirmed. The Required details card counts it as missing, and the quote cannot be generated until it is filled. That is on purpose: a time typed as a guess becomes the pickup time on the driver's job, and nobody remembers later that it was a guess.

Ask the client for the time, or for the flight number on an airport job, and enter it with Edit job. One short question before the quote is cheaper than a car at the wrong time.

Pricing several jobs

On an enquiry with more than one job, the price step offers a Pricing scope: All jobs together prices them as one, and Per job lets you price each job on its own. Use Per job when the jobs differ, for example an airport transfer out and an hourly hire on the day of the event, so each one is priced with its own service.

After the client says yes, the booking keeps the jobs as they are on the quote, and its price is the sum of the job fares. Get the dates, times and services right on the enquiry; it saves editing every job again on the booking.
