Airport pickup sign maker for chauffeurs

Make an airport pickup sign with the passenger's agreed display name, an optional company and an optional flight number. Use a large, high-contrast name with little extra detail, then print it or show it full screen. The sign is created in your browser and is not saved by this tool.

Change the example

Make your sign

Ask the passenger or booker what name should appear in public. A surname, initials or agreed company name may be enough to recognise the driver. Replace the fictional example before displaying the board. The flight field is optional and does not look up a flight, track an arrival or determine a terminal.

Choose A4, Letter or tablet layout. The preview fits the name to its available width while keeping company and flight secondary. Print uses a landscape page; check the paper selection and turn off browser headers and footers in the print dialog. Full screen depends on browser support and includes an exit control.

The sign fields stay in this page's memory. They are not placed in a URL, local storage, a download link or an account record. Reloading resets the example. A printout, screenshot or saved PDF is a separate copy you control: close the board and handle that copy appropriately after the pickup.

What a good pickup sign shows

Give the agreed name the strongest position. A small operator or company line can help a passenger match it to their booking confirmation, but it should not compete with the name. An optional flight reference can help the driver distinguish boards without adding a destination or other personal details.

Leave hotel names, home addresses, telephone numbers and booking notes off a public sign. The purpose is recognition at arrivals, not publishing the full itinerary. Confirm the passenger through your normal booking procedure after contact; recognising a sign alone does not establish identity.

Keep the spelling exactly as agreed, including accents. Check long names on the actual device or printed page rather than assuming a desktop preview guarantees legibility in a busy hall. If the name becomes too small, agree a shorter public form rather than removing meaningful characters at random.

Printed, tablet and phone signs

The example board reads D. Reed with Ashford Chauffeurs, both fictional. Use Letter for a US-paper workflow or A4 for a UK or Irish-paper workflow, choosing the matching stock in the print dialog. Those are layout choices rather than claims about mandatory airport signage. No official airport logo or accreditation is generated.

A tablet gives more space than a phone, but the board should remain simple on either. Check brightness, glare, battery and your ability to keep the screen awake. This page does not promise to prevent the device from locking. A printed backup can be useful when the pickup depends on a device that may lose power.

Meeting points at airports

A sign does not grant permission to wait, park or meet customers in a particular area. Read the airport's current arrival and commercial-operator instructions, confirm the terminal and give the passenger a precise meeting description. A general arrivals hall label can be ambiguous when there are several exits or meeting points.

Heathrow publishes official meeting-point guidance. Dublin Airport publishes a chauffeur-company permit page. These links are starting points for checking the relevant airport, not a licence or booking confirmation. No parking fee, waiting allowance, terminal-specific meeting position or commercial access entitlement is asserted by this tool.

General information, not legal or tax advice. Check the relevant authority and your own agreements before acting.

Mistakes at arrivals

  1. A correct sign in the wrong hall

Check the actual arriving terminal and the agreed meeting location before displaying the board. Keep a separate contact plan for a passenger who cannot find the driver.

  2. Too much personal detail

Do not turn the board into a booking sheet. A destination, private address or phone number does not help distant recognition and exposes information to everyone nearby.

  3. Last-minute spelling changes

Use the booker's approved display form. Confirm accents and initials before printing, and prepare a clear replacement if the passenger requests a more discreet sign.

The digital name board in the 4fleet driver app

The driver job detail in 4fleet includes a digital meet-and-greet name board. Its button is highlighted when meet and greet was requested. The displayed sign uses the job's configured sign text or passenger-name fallback, so the driver should still check that the public wording matches what the passenger agreed.

The Android driver app is available; an iOS driver app remains on the roadmap. This browser tool is independent of that app: typing a name here does not modify a booking or send anything to a driver. Use the driver workflow for the actual assigned job and its instructions.

The approved Ashford phone capture shows the driver's job brief and an instruction to meet with a discreet D. Reed sign. It does not show the full-screen name-board screen. The figure illustrates the pickup instruction; the full-screen board is opened separately from the job details.

Pickup sign questions

What should I write on an airport pickup sign?

Use the display name agreed with the passenger or booker, with an optional small company line. Keep the board easy to recognise and leave private contact details and the destination off it.

Should the sign show the passenger's full name?

Only if that is the agreed public wording. A surname, initials or company name may be more appropriate for the passenger's preference. Confirm the choice rather than assuming the booking name must be displayed in full.

Paper or tablet?

Either can work if the name is legible. Check print contrast for paper and brightness, glare and battery for a tablet. Choose a backup that suits the actual pickup conditions.

Where do chauffeurs wait at arrivals?

Use the current airport instructions and the meeting point confirmed with the passenger. Commercial access and parking arrangements differ; this sign does not authorise a waiting location.

How large should the text be?

Large enough to recognise in the intended setting. The preview fits text to the available width, but test it at the actual distance and on the real device or paper. There is no verified universal airport font-size rule here.
