Connect Stripe to take card payments from your clients
Why 4fleet needs this
4fleet does not hold your clients' card payments. It creates a Stripe Standard account for your company, a normal Stripe account that you own and sign in to on the full Stripe Dashboard. Stripe collects your business and bank details during onboarding, and 4fleet shows the account as connected only once Stripe allows it to take charges.
Steps
- Before you start, check the country. 4fleet creates the Stripe account in your Legal entity country, or in your service country if no legal entity country is saved. Stripe says that after a Standard connected account is created, its country cannot be changed.
- Have Stripe's documents ready for that country. Stripe asks for a legal entity registered in the country, a tax ID, a physical address there that can receive mail (not a P.O. box), a phone number, a government-issued ID, a working website that shows what your business sells or what services you provide, and a physical bank account in that country. Stripe notes that accounts in most European countries can use a EUR bank account.
- Start the connection from 4fleet (see Finish in 4fleet). 4fleet sends you to Stripe's onboarding pages.
- Complete Stripe's questions about your business, your product, and your relationship to the business. Stripe may show details 4fleet already passed on, such as your company name and email, and asks you to confirm them.
- Enter the public details Stripe asks for. Stripe says your customers see your business name, support contact details and statement descriptor on card statements or receipts, so use the name your clients know you by.
- Finish the flow. Stripe returns you to 4fleet. Stripe notes that returning does not mean every requirement is met, so check the status in 4fleet.
- If Stripe asks for more information later, sign in to the Stripe Dashboard and provide it there. Stripe contacts Standard account holders directly about account issues.
Finish in 4fleet
- Open Settings > Finance > Tax profile and check Legal entity country.
- Open Settings > Integrations > Connected services. On the Payment Processing card, select Connect Stripe Account. Only the owner can do this.
- When you are back in 4fleet, the card shows Connected with Charges enabled when Stripe is ready. If it shows Setup incomplete, select Finish Stripe setup.
- To let clients pay invoices by card, select Open Feature Activation under Online invoice payments and enable it there.

Frequently asked questions
I already have a Stripe account. Can I use it?
No. 4fleet creates a new Stripe account for your company when you select **Connect Stripe Account**. An account you opened on your own cannot be attached to 4fleet afterwards.
The Stripe account was created in the wrong country
Stripe does not let you change the country of a Standard connected account, and the fix is a new Stripe account. 4fleet keeps the first account linked, so you cannot replace it yourself from Settings. Contact 4fleet support before you start again.
I came back from Stripe and the card says Setup incomplete
Stripe still needs something from you, or the link timed out. Stripe's onboarding links work once and expire after a few minutes. Select **Finish Stripe setup** to get a fresh link and continue where you stopped.
Where do I see payouts, fees and disputes?
In your own Stripe Dashboard. Select **Open Stripe Dashboard** on the **Payment Processing** card. A Standard account has the full Stripe Dashboard, and 4fleet does not show Stripe's fees.
