Goal
Pay what you owe a transport company by card, either from the payment link they emailed you or from your client portal, and keep the receipt.
Prerequisites
- You have the payment email from the transport company, or you can sign in to their client portal.
- You have a card you can pay with online.
- In the portal, your access includes invoices. Some portal roles see bookings only.
Steps
- Open the payment link from the email. The page shows the company, the Amount due and, when there is one, the invoice number.
- Check the amount. To keep a copy of the invoice, select Download invoice when the page offers it.
- Select the Pay button, which shows the amount, and complete the card payment on the secure checkout page that opens.
- Wait for the confirmation page. When it says Payment received, the receipt is emailed to you with the invoice attached. If it says Confirming your payment, keep the page open for a few seconds.
- To pay from the portal instead, sign in and open Invoices. The page lists Your invoices and the outstanding total.
- Open the invoice to check its line items. Select Download invoice (PDF) if you need a copy.
- Select Pay this invoice and complete the card payment on the checkout page.
- Once the invoice is paid, return to it in the portal and select Download receipt (PDF).
Expected result
The payment page or the invoice shows nothing left to pay, and the receipt has arrived by email or can be downloaded from the portal.
Troubleshooting
- If the page says Already paid, nothing is left to pay on this request. Do not pay again.
- If the page says "Your payment is being confirmed. You will receive a receipt by email.", the payment is going through. Wait for the receipt before you try again.
- If the page says "A payment for this request is already being set up.", select Continue payment to return to the payment that was started.
- If the page says "Online payment is not available for this request.", contact the company and ask how they would like to be paid.
- If you see Payment link unavailable, the link is no longer valid. Reply to the email that contained it.
- If you see Payment not completed, no charge was made. Reopen the payment link from your email to finish.
- If the portal says "This invoice cannot be paid online.", the invoice is already settled, credited or voided, or the company takes payment another way. Contact them.
- If you cannot see Invoices in the portal, your role does not include billing. Ask the company to change your access.
