Flight tracking and live tracking
What flight tracking tells you and the passenger, why pickup times never move by themselves, and how to turn on live tracking and share it.
What flight tracking does
When a job carries a flight number, 4fleet checks the flight's status for upcoming pickups and shows it next to the booking and in the Calendar, where the Tracked flights tile counts them. Settings > Integrations > Connected services shows whether Flight tracking is on for your workspace.
When the flight runs more than 10 minutes late, or is canceled, the office gets an in-app alert. When the delay grows past 30 minutes, or the flight is canceled, the passenger is emailed as well, if 4fleet has an email address for the passenger. The driver is not told by 4fleet.
Pickup times never move by themselves
Flight tracking never changes the pickup time. A person decides, because the right new time depends on things 4fleet does not know: how long immigration takes at that airport, whether the client has checked bags, whether the driver has another job after this one.
When an alert comes in, decide the new pickup time, change it on the job with Edit job, phone or message the driver, and tell the client with Notify customer on the booking's Communications tab. Then check the driver's next job, which a late flight often pushes into.
Live tracking is off until you turn it on
Live tracking lets a driver share their position during an active job, and lets you send the passenger a link to follow the car. It is off for every company until you switch on Live driver tracking in Settings > Security & data > Privacy & export. While it is off, no location is collected at all and the Dispatch board's live map stays empty.
The same card has Route history, breadcrumb replay, which lets you replay the route a driver took on a completed booking. The stored trail is deleted after 7 days whatever that setting says. Tell your drivers when you turn tracking on.
Sharing the tracking link
With live tracking on, the booking's Communications tab has Share tracking. It opens Share live tracking with Copy driver link, for the driver to share their location, and Copy customer link, for the passenger to follow the job. Jobs a partner covers never show a live position.
