Lesson 5 of 8 · 5 min
Track the driver's answer to every job
What a driver receives when you assign a job, how 4fleet chases a driver who does not answer, and what to do when a driver declines.
What the driver receives
When you assign a driver, the driver gets an in-app notification, and a push alert on the phone if they allow alerts. The driver then accepts or declines the job in the driver app. Until they do, the job card on the Dispatch board reads Awaiting; after that it reads Accepted or Declined.
This only works for a driver whose profile is linked to a login. A driver profile you created without inviting the driver to the app cannot receive anything, so the assignment will sit at Awaiting with nobody to answer it. Invite every driver before you give them work.
When the driver says nothing
4fleet chases an unanswered assignment for you. While the pickup is coming up and the driver has not answered, the driver is reminded about once an hour, up to three times. From the second reminder on, the office also gets an alert that the driver has not accepted. After the third reminder 4fleet stops, the job stays at Awaiting, and it is your call: phone the driver or give the job to someone else. A new assignment starts the reminders again.
So an Awaiting card the evening before is a job to act on, not a job to watch.
When the driver says no
A decline is final for that assignment. The driver cannot change their mind in the app; only the office can assign the job to them again. The office is always notified of a decline, whatever anyone's notification settings say, because the job now has no driver. Open the booking and reassign it, using Smart Match to find who is free.
Settings that change what drivers see and what you hear
Show pay basis on job offers in Settings > Operations > Driver & availability lets a driver paid by commission or per job see their own rate on a job before they accept. The job price and your margin are never shown.
Each person in the office chooses which alerts they get in Settings > My account > Notifications. Agree as a team who watches the driver alerts, so a reminder that the driver has not answered does not land with someone who is off today.
